How to Play Chorizo
2 to 4 players | Spanish 40-card deck | First to 51 (or 101) wins
The Deck
Cards 1-7 keep their face value. Sota (J) = 8, Caballo (H) = 9, Rey (K) = 10. No 8s or 9s.
Setup
Draw to determine dealer (highest card wins; Ace beats King). Dealer gives 3 cards to each player, then places 4 face-up in the center.
Your Turn
- Declare any scoring combinations in your hand (see below).
- Capture center cards that sum to 15 using one hand card, or place a hand card on the table.
Clearing the table = Escoba (+1 pt, marked with a vertical card in your pile).
Golden 7 & Golden King
These wildcards can have their value changed once, permanently, by whoever holds them. They still count as Golden cards for scoring regardless of their value.
Declarations
Declare on your turn before playing. Combinations stack.
- Miseria (hand sums to 7) = 2 pts
- Nueve (hand sums to 9) = 3 pts
- Escalera (three consecutive ranks) = 3 pts
- Flor (all same suit) = 3 pts
- Chorizo (three of the same rank) = 10 pts
End of Round
- +1 per Escoba
- +1 most cards total
- +1 most Gold (Oros) cards
- +1 most 7s (tiebreak: 6s, then Aces)
- +2 Golden 7
- +1 Golden King
- +4 all four 7s (Multa de Sietes)
- +4 all four Kings (Multa de Reyes)
